Public Realm Development Manager

Lendlease

What do you do?

Within the Masterplan development, I am in charge of the plans for the site’s Public Realm, i.e. all open spaces (parks, squares, cycle paths, roadways, canals, etc.). One of the principles of the Masterplan is the Common Ground, the permeability and accessibility between outdoor and indoor spaces. This is why I work closely with both the master planners and the designers of the different buildings to coordinate a design that meets the overall vision and needs of the future tenants.

What are the goals of your commitment?

My goal is to develop the outdoor areas of the MIND site so that they can have a strong identity, to create a new destination within the city of Milan, but above all, a community that feels like an active part of this new site. I would like MIND to be able to welcome all kinds of users who, attracted by the new green and blue infrastructure, can experience the open spaces for a variety of activities and feel more in touch with nature.

What role does innovation play in your job?

At Lendlease, innovation is an element that we want to embrace daily. It’s the vision of a sustainable and carbon-zero site that is both inclusive and educational. In my work, innovation means, for example, thinking about urban and natural open spaces designed through Nature-Based Solutions: sustainable planning, design, environmental management, and engineering practices that benefit human well-being and biodiversity. These solutions utilise natural features and processes to combat climate change, reduce the risk of flooding, reduce urban heat, etc. Designing using these principles can increase property values while improving public health.

I would like MIND to become a home for everyone who wants to learn, improve and train among innovation and nature.

What added value have you received or would you like to receive from your presence in MIND?

MIND is a place open to sharing opportunities. To think that there is a community open to the exchange of ideas, visions, and projects is definitely inspiring.

How do you imagine the future of MIND?

I hope that, in the future, MIND will be a free place open to exchanging ideas. I would like MIND to welcome a dialogue between the local communities and the international organisations coming to the site to create a cultural mix. A home for all people who want to learn, improve. A home for all people who want to learn, improve and train between innovation and nature.
