Human Technopole is the new research institute for Life Sciences, located in the heart of MIND. Human Technopole’s mission is to improve people’s health and wellbeing by conducting pioneering research in Life Sciences. The goal is to develop new approaches to personalised and preventive medicine, create and manage scientific services and facilities to make available to the national scientific community, provide training opportunities for the next generation of scientists, and promote innovation and progress through technology transfer. At capacity, HT will employ over 1,000 scientists from around the world.

Why MIND

On 31 October 2015, the Universal Exhibition closed in Milan. For six months Milan had been home to an extraordinary event that, over an area of more than a million square metres, with the involvement of more than 140 countries and international organisations, had welcomed millions of people from all over the world around the theme “Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life”. The immense richness of values, collaboration, energy, and consensus, together with the heritage of sustainability, respect for human health, and the balance of the planet, was to become the legacy of that place and its new horizon.

The decision was to transform the area into a new hub for research, knowledge and innovation within a large urban park, a district that would welcome a community of scientists, doctors, students and new inhabitants. At the heart of this district is Human Technopole, the new Life Sciences research institute.

The great values inherited from Expo Milano 2015 shape the horizon of a new hub of knowledge and its community of scientists, doctors and students. At its heart, Human Technopole

The activities in the district

Since 2018/19, we have been a partner of MIND Education. In 2020, we joined the supporters of Fondazione Triulza’s Social Innovation Campus.

In an effort to highlight and celebrate the work of past scientists and innovators who have contributed to the progress of humanity, in 2021, the partners of MIND and us drafted and presented a proposal to the City of Milan – a project to rename the streets as well as the squares, buildings and parks of the district.

The result was a joint and integrated project that honours and remembers prominent scientists, researchers and personalities in science and technology with a special focus on women. As of May 2021, Human Technopole has a new address: Viale Rita Levi-Montalcini.
